I have done both your Landscapes in Lightroom courses and gotten so much out of them, and I have been using the exposure and contrast settings you suggest as my import presets; I will add the black adjustment / reverse S-curve to my workflow. This all seems like a better approach than going down&hellip;</p>

I&#8217;ll go back and look at the video on tone controls yet again. You use the term &#8220;compromise exposure&#8221; frequently, but I&#8217;m not sure you actually define it in any of the videos (I could be wrong about that). I&#8217;m guessing you mean an exposure that achieves the best overall balance in the midtones, but it would be&hellip;</p>

What am I doing wrong?</p>
